pre-TdF spinning

As a part of the warm up for this year's Tour de Fleece I made some 2ply heavy lace weight yarn:

W ramach rozgrzewki przed tegorocznym Tour de Fleece ukręciłam cienką 2ply:

Two skeins, each about 115g (4oz) and just shy of one kilometre in total length, or about 500m each.

As far as the weight goes, these are a rather heavy lace weights (bloomed a bit during the twist setting) with around 16-18wpi. I'm not sure if I want to sell it or knit a shawl with it (and when?)

Mam dwa motki, każdy po jakieś 115g i nieco mniej niż kilometr nici w sumie. Jesli chodzi o grubość wełny to klasyfikuje sie jako "lace" z 16-18 wpi.
Jeszcze nie wiem czy ją sprzedam, czy może zrobię z niej (kiedyś) chustę. Pożyjom uwidim ;)

Kiedyś już krecilam nitki z tej dokładnie wełny (superwash merino) i tego samego koloru. Wyszły takie:

It's interesting to see how very different the two yarns are, despite the fact that they both were made from this:

New toy

I have collected today my new toy. Meet Louet S10 (she needs a better name I think, feel free to leave suggestions). Seven months older then yours truly, she's in a great condition! After a quick clean and few drops of oil she runs soundlessly and works very well. It will take some time for me to adjust not only to the single driveband but also Irish tension (bobbin led) but I can already see it's a beginning of a beautiful friendship. And perfect timing! We're at day 3 of the Tour de Fleece. Yes, it's that time of year again. I was putting the spinning off waiting for the new wheel, but now there will be no more excuses. Time to get the wheel spinning.

I've got few yarns that I span on the old wheel (which BTW needs a name too!) as a part of Tour de Fleece warm up. I'll show them next time as they still have to be measured properly. But I hope you're ready for some crazy art yarns as I intent to spin A LOT of these on my new wheel.

Przywiozłam dziś do domu nową zabawkę. Poznajcie Louet model S10 (trzeba ją ochrzcić...podrzućcie jakieś imiona do wyboru). Maszyna jest o 7 miesiecy starsza ode mnie ale świetnie się trzyma. Czytałam na forach, że im starsze modele, tym solidniejsze wykonanie i lepsza jakość. I musze się zgodzić. Po wytarciu z kurzu i przesmarowaniu śrub i łączeń, hula jak nowa. Troche czasu zajmie mi nauczenie się nowego systemu (bo to pojedynczy sznurek i prowadzenie przez szpulkę tz. irish tension) ale juz widzę że sie polubimy ;) I to w samą porę na Tour de Fleece! Tak, tak, zleciało. Początek lipca to pora kręcenia. Nałogowego. Do upadłego albo do konca wełnianych zapasów (co raczej mi nie grozi).
W ramach rozgrzewki przed TdF ukręciłam na struszku (którego tez trzebaby jakoś nazwać żeby sie nie obraził) kilka włóczek. Pokażę następnym razem, bo ciągle jeszcze muszę je pomierzyć. Mam nadzieję, że jesteście przygotowani na włóczki artystyczne. Będzie ich tu do znudzenia. Ja i Louet bedziemy szaleć i łamać wszelkie reguły!
